SMARTVÉLO e-bikes make it even easier to get started with sustainable mobility: All SMARTVÉLO models are eligible and benefit from the current subsidy from the Swiss Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection. This means that companies and organisations can get 25% of the purchase price back when they buy direct.

The subsidy is available for e-cargo bikes that are used for the commercial transport of goods and meet certain criteria. All SMARTVÉLO models meet the requirements of the E-cargo bike directive and are therefore easily eligible. They are characterised by the following features:

• Transport options that are permanently attached to the bike.
• A maximum authorised weight of at least 170 kg.
• Serial production and brand new.

Our e-bikes are ideal for urban and suburban use and help reduce the use of internal combustion engine vehicles, resulting in lower CO2 emissions, particulate matter and noise pollution.

Eligible expenses include not only the e-bike itself, but also essential accessories that support its operation and safety. These include:

• Safety equipment such as locks, mirrors, and high quality lighting.
• Batteries and upgrades (e.g., secondary batteries, more powerful batteries).
• Transport boxes, specialized loading areas, and other attachments.
• GPS trackers for better fleet monitoring.
• Ineligible expenses include cosmetic changes such as special paintwork, and insurance and maintenance costs.

The application must be submitted before ordering the e-cargo bike. This involves submitting a quote that documents the planned acquisition costs. Important documents that must be included in the application process include:

• A current quote for the e-bike.
• A detailed project description outlining the intended use.
• Proof of commercial activity (e.g., business registration).

The subsidy is a grant of 25% of the eligible expenditure per e-bike. When calculating the grant, it is important to note that the net amount is used if you are entitled to deduct input tax, otherwise the gross amount is used.

To be eligible for funding, the e-bike must be used primarily for commercial freight transport. The applicant undertakes to use the subsidised e-bike for at least three years and to submit annual reports on its use. This is for the control and monitoring of the subsidy programme.
